SIC 127th National Congress of the Italian Society of Surgery

The 127th National Congress of the Italian Society of Surgery will be held in Bari from October 5-8, 2025, jointly organized with the 27th Annual Conference of the European Society of Surgery (ESS). An event of international significance celebrating the excellence of Italian and European surgery.

Congress Presidents

Opening Ceremony

The event will open on October 5, 2025 at 3:30 PM at the prestigious Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, hosted by Benedetta Rinaldi.

The opening ceremony will feature outstanding highlights:

• Lifetime Achievement Award to Jacques Marescaux, pioneer of world surgery
• Honorary Degree in Medicine and Surgery to Carlo Verdone, with lectio magistralis titled “Carlo Verdone, a doctor who never was… until yesterday”
• Monologue “Errors make us lovable” by Gianrico Carofiglio
• Musical tribute by the Fanfare of the South Interregional Maritime Command

A Prestigious Event

The congress will see the participation of the highest institutional authorities, including the Deputy Minister of Justice, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, the Prefect and Mayor of Bari, as well as the leaders of Italian healthcare and representatives of major national medical institutions.
